Epic Mom Moments

It is always interesting just when you think you are not making the grade as a mother your child suddenly does something that to you is precious and surprising beyond words and you realize you really are getting through. We have had quite a few of those moments in the last couple days so I decided to write about it.

The first funny one occured while Byron and I were putting Nathan down to sleep (an hour past his bed time on Wednesday night). We always pray next to Nathans crib while holding him (One of the few times mind you mom gets cuddles) So I was in the middle of praying and Nathan was practically trying to fall into his crib when he suddenly says Amen hoping I will just finish the prayer and put him to bed already. I hope Heavenly Father will forgive me for busting out laughing but I could not help myself. Some things just make you laugh.

Yesterday I actually set Nathan in his high chair to eat a real breakfast when he folds his arms and bows his head and then stares at me like what are you waiting for mom pray already.

Later yesterday morning he grabbed my water cup from our room and brought it into the living room to drink it. I told him to be careful and not spill which of course inevitably happens on the floor in front of the tv. I said uh oh that is not good for the carpet we need to clean it up. He immediately runs into the kitchen and grabs the hand towel brings it back and starts mopping up the water. Incredulously it took me a minute to process that it was really happening and I marveled that of all the things I thought I was teaching him cleaning up wasn't on the list since to this point he has shown no interest in it. Despite my dissapointment over him spilling I could not help but smile and encourage the fact that he was trying to fix it.

And ultimately I never imagined my son would be fascinated by the Vaccum. No matter what I am doing or where I am at the house Nathan comes and takes my hands and pulls me into the living room and the closet that houses the Vaccum. Yesterday I had reached my limit when for the 25th time that day he took me to the hall closest to get out the Vaccum. That is when it was time for Grandma's house. On those days I immensely grateful Grandma lives 10 minutes away and that she is willing to preserve my sanity by watching Nathan for an evening.

Ahhhhh! The Wonder of Nursery

So today we experimented with putting Nathan into nursery early. It was bliss and he loved it as he practically shoved me out the door and then tried closing the door on me. Ok so that is a little dramatic depiction of the event but I did try to get him to leave with me and he wanted no part of it. The nursery leader invited me to leave him and felt like he would be fine going into nursery 3 months early. I would like to say I blissfully enjoyed Sunday School and relief society but I had to talk myself out of going and checking on him every fifteen minutes and every time the door opened I turned worried that they might bring a screaming child in any minute or a stinky one. However, everything went uneventfully and the nursery leader said he was perfectly fine and to bring him back. Wahoo, Yipee, Yahoo. Don't get me wrong I love my son and I am used to being joined at the hip with him but it will be nice not to have to attend hall meetings as we roam the church building during Sunday School and Relief Society. I think Nathan will love the interaction with the other toddlers and play, play, playing.

It has been awhile

I finally updated our blog with the final scrapbook pages of the year! Phew now I am just going to do quarterly scrapbooking instead of monthly. I am so excited though to finally have gotten done with Nathans first year! I know that in the future I will look back and really treasure the compilation of his first year.

Things are progressing fairly well Byron loves his job with DISA and I am enjoying playing with Nathan. We are holding our own and growing. We love seeing all the changes coming in the lives of our family and our siblings families. It it so much fun to be starting our families and growing them together at the same time.

Our latest family edition

So we decided to take advantage of the great deals going on now to purchase a SUV that has towing capacity. Ultimately we would like to get some 4 wheelers so this is the first step. We absolutely love our Mitshubishi Endeavor! Byron and I are sooo excited and it is so much easier to load Nathan into!

Our Bathroom Remodel

Our New Vanity! Our new bathroom! Our first home improvement project ever! Wahoo!

Up close shot of the Laminate Floor a natural tavertine stone pattern
It all started with this green wall, shower curtain, and rug! Amazing

Another view of the european style vanity! Love it!

So I forgot to get really good before pictures which showed our vanity from the 1980's that had burn marks on the perimeter of the sink but I am sure you can use your imagination.
Here are the intermediate pictures!

Byrons "Little Giant Ladder" it did not take much arm twisting to get this for our project. In fact I suggested it when I saw that it was a killer deal at Costco! I love Costco!

Dad and Byron posing for their cameo! We are so thankful Dad offered to help the work went by so much faster and Byron loves to work side by side with Lynn.
